Ladybirds Pre-school thrives thanks to the dedication of many different people who work for us - including the staff, trustees and fundraising volunteers. We value the contribution of both time and skills in the local community and they are an essential ingredient to our continued success.
Ladybirds is a registered charity run by a group of Trustees, who are mainly parents. There is also an active Fundraising Committee that organises events and activities across the year to raise much needed funds for the Pre-school.
We love having new members join and it is essential to the success of our Pre-School.
If you would like to join the Trustees or the Fundraising Committee, please contact us and the office will put you in touch. The Committee structure can be found here and our Constitution can be found here.
The Trustees are a group who help to oversee the Pre-school, in much the same way as a Board of Governors does for a school.
The Trustees employ the staff to run the Pre-school on their behalf, and help with financial and policy decisions. We help to make sure that Ladybird Pre-school remains an excellent Pre-school for your child.
Volunteering to be a Trustee at Ladybirds is a great way to put something positive back
into the local community and can have many rewards and benefits.
It offers you the opportunity to become more actively and practically involved in the learning and development of your child. It is widely recognised that when parents are actively involved their children can achieve more.
You will also have a chance to meet other parents, update existing skills and learn new ones. This
can have valuable long-term benefits when applying for jobs or undertaking further training.
We offically meet at a committee once a term and regularly catch up over email, text and over the odd glass of wine to ensure things are on track. The roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary have additional responsibilites and time committments. If you would like futher details on these roles then please ask!
The trustees of the charity are elected each year at the charity’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Individuals over the age of 18 years who have either family or affiliate membership with the charity are eligible to be elected as a trustee.
If joining a committee isn't for you, there are plenty of other ways you can help out.
As a registered charity, we are enormously grateful for the goodwill of the local community to help raise funds for new toys and equipment. If you are able to donate any time for our fundraising committee, we would love to hear from you!
